The Beautiful Mission R Electric SuperBike

Mission announced their Mission R electric superbike at the Longbeach Motorshow in December 2010 to an impressed crowd of motor journalists and fans, The bike features a 141hp electric motor and a 14kWh lithium-ion battery system, the same system Mission Motors uses for its EVT drivetrain making the Mission R an EVT product ambassador, albeit a very handsome and rather quick one. Motorcyclist Magazine Reviews The Mission One

You might remember last month we mentioned that Sir Alan Cathcart had visited Mission Motors headquarters to review the venerable Mission One electric superbike, well the review is up over at Motorcyclist and is well worth a read. It’s been a big month for Mission Motors, they’ve announced they are¬†going to follow Tesla Motors into the electric drivetrain development arena with Mission EVT (electric vehicle technology), they also surreptitiously announced the upcoming Mission R electric superbike (we broke the story) that is widely expected to be a platform for TTXGP teams in the upcoming 2011 season. Mission Motors Announces Mission EVT

Mission Motors has been holding out on us all, in lock step with the Mission R (mini)announcement they have announced a potentially huge new business model, called Mission EVT (electric vehicle technology). In short they will be offering consulting, software and hardware services for electric and hybrid vehicle manufacturers, Tesla Motors currently offers similar services to Toyota and Daimler-Benz. Mission Motors Announces The Mission R!

After having made it clear that they will be racing in 2011,¬†Mission Motors have posted the above image of an all new model on their website, named the Mission R it appears to be a more track-centric superbike not dissimilar to the Mission One bike that set the world record for an electric motorcycle at the Bonneville Salt flats in September last year (see pictures below). It may very well be that Mission Motors will sell the Mission R as a race ready electric superbike in the same way that the Mavizen bike is currently available for the TTXGP championship. Lanjut →
