Police Department Acquires Its First Zero Electric Motorcycle

The Scotts Valley police department in California have become the first law enforcement agency to acquire one of Zero’s electric Motorcycles, the silent operation, reliability and ease of use making the electric bikes almost perfect for Police use.

The Zero DS has a range of 50 miles per charge running off of its lithium-ion battery pack and is highway legal with a top speed of 67mph, the bikes don’t have gears which makes them as easy to ride as a Vespa and are cheap to run at less than a $.01 per mile or kilometer.

It’ll be interesting to see how the bike stands up to heavy duty police work, working with a law enforcement agency is a great way to test durability and long term feasibility.
