Volvo C30 EV – Coming In 2012

Volvo is on track to release the C30 EV in 2012, the 2 door hatchback has a 100 mile range and the same aerodynamic Kammback design profile seen on the Nissan Leaf, Toyota Prius and Honda CR-Z.

No word yet on pricing or global availability, the gasoline 2011 version sells for between $24,000 and $27,000 so the all electric C30 will almost certainly cost between $30,000 and $35,000. This likely price differential isn’t as bad as it seems though as the C30 EV will be eligible for the $7,500 federal tax rebate and day to day running costs will be notably lower than the gas version.

I don’t know about you but just once I’d like to see an electric car without the swirly graphics down the side…
