The New Fiat 500 Hybrid Will Be Rated At 100+ MPG

Fiat are developing a hybrid version of their very popular 500 model which is said to be capable of clocking over 100 miles on a gallon of gasoline. The 0.9 Litre engined microcar will be fitted with a 5Kw electric motor in the transmission which will power the car away from stop lights and standing starts, reducing the load on the internal combustion engine and improving economy.

Fiat have said that the car is bound for US shores by mid to late 2012, there is also a rumour flying around that Ford will use the same hybrid system in its Ka model, which currently uses the same running gear as the 500.
