The Elektra One

A German company is working on the development on a 100% electric plane designed for personal use. The Elektra One (pictured above and below) is a single seat sport plane capable of 3 hours of sustained flight before needing to return to its hangar and recharge. 800hp Bugatti Electric Hyper Car On The Way

Bugatti is said to be working on an Audi E-Tron based all electric car capable of turning out 800bhp and over 1,600lbs of torque. The Bugatti name is no stranger to electric cars, company founder Ettore Bugatti built an EV (the Type 56) all the way back in 1931, initially it was destined to be a personal car for zipping around the factory site but demand was so strong that Ettore commissioned a few more to be produced. Fisker To Ship 100 Hybrid Electric Cars This Year

Fisker Automotive will be shipping between 70 and 100 cars before the end of 2010 as part of a large scale test of their Karma model hybrid electric car according to Ray Lane a managing partner in the U.S. venture capital fund Kleiner Perkins Caufield & Byers, who are large shareholders in the still relatively new car company. The cars will be produced by Valmet Automotive in Finland, Valmet is contracted to build the Karma and will begin mass production in February 2011 by which time Fisker is hoping to be building and selling approximately 15,000 cars per year. Daimler AG and BYD Announce Joint Venture

In what appears to be a month for high profile joint ventures, the German automaker Daimler AG (ETR:DAI)and the Chinese automaker BYD Co. (HKG:1211)┬áhave announced that they will begin a partnership aimed directly at the burgeoning mainland Chinese market for electric cars. BYD’s other high profile shareholder is US billionaire Warren Buffet’s investment company Berkshire Hathaway Inc. (NYSE:BRK.A), with friends like these it appears BYD is set to grow into China’s 21st century runaway success story. China is currently the largest car market in the world and┬ásome estimates, like one today from consulting company IHS Global Insight for example, are putting global battery powered electric vehicle sales at 3% of total sales by the year 2020 Lanjut →
