The Polaris Ranger EV

Polaris announced a 100% electric ATV in their 2010 line up called the Polaris Ranger EV, the four wheel drive off-road vehicle features a lithium-ion battery system paired with a 30 HP 48-Volt High-Efficiency AC-Inducted Electric Motor and a top speed of 25 MPH (40.2 KPH). The 50 mile (80KM) range means this ATV is most suitable for farm and industrial use, the potential fuel savings will go a long way towards softening the blow of the $10,699 USD sticker price.

Polaris also builds snow mobiles, jet skis and motorcycles so it will be interesting to see if electric vehicles begin to make more appearances throughout their model line up in the coming years. Sadly the Ranger EV is not road legal so any aspirations you may have of slapping license plates on it and calling it your daily driver will have to be put on hold.

These are great machines, but just for clarification, the battery system is Lead-Acid chemistry. Not Lithium-ion. Thanks!
